Club Rules

DRESS

Dress when playing bowls at whatever time will be:

Ladies 

White top and grey bowls skirt or tailored grey trousers or three quarters length grey trousers, club cardigans will be permitted at all times.

MEN

White top and grey trousers

COUNTY LEAGUE LADIES AND GENTS

Dress will be advised at time of team selection

FOOTWEAR

Correct smooth soled bowls shoes only will be allowed on the green. Any colour is allowable provided that they are legitimate bowling shoes.

Water based spray chalk along with ordinary chalk are both allowed to be used.

RINK BOOKING

The order of priority for the booking of rinks will be:

National Competitions, County Competitions, League Matches Cup and Knockout Matches and then Friendly Matches

THE EXCEPTION BEING FRIDAY MORNING WHICH IS NOT A LEAGUE MORNING AND IS RESERVED STRICTLY FOR ROLL UP.

IT WILL NOT BE PERMISSIBLE TO TAKE ANY RINK ON FRIDAY MORNING IN ORDER TO PLAY ANT OTHER LEAGUE GAME AS THERE ARE AMPLE RINKS AVAILABLE ON ANY AFTERNOON AND SOME MORNING

TEAM SELECTION

Team representing the club will be selected by the club captain Ladies matches will be selected by the Ladies Captain.

TEAM REGISTRATION

All the League teams must be registered at the commencement of the season and players will only be permitted to play for one league in any one Club League Competion unless that player has been the subject of a transfer.

SUBSTITUTION

Substitutes are permissible, Club members are allowed to substitute any member of times for any team in any one season provided that they are not of a team in the same league in which they are acting as substitute Member who are acting as substitute will be allowed to act as skip NON Members are allowed to act as substitute on a maximum of three occasions only in one season, but at no time are they allowed to act as skip.

ON NO OCCASION WILL TWO NON MEMBERS BE ALLOWED TO ACT AS SUBSTITUTES IN THE SAME GAME.

WHERE A CLUB MEMBER WHO IS REGISTERED IN A LEAGUE TEAM ACTS AS A SUBSTITUTE HE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ACT AS SUBSTITUTE FOR A TEAM IN THE SAME LEAGUE WHETHER OR NOT IT IS I A LOWER OR HIGHER DIVISION OF THE SAME LEAGUE(evening triples to evening triples or evening pairs to evening pairs)

During the final three weeks of the season   No Non member shall be allowed to act as substitute in an league or competition match (THE LAST THREE WEEKS OF THE SEASON SHALL BE DETERMINED BY THE DATES OF THE FIXTURES ISSUED AT THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE SEASON BY THE FIXTURE SECRETARY ANY REARRANGED MATCH OUTSIDE OF THESE DATES IS NOT TO BE COUNTED AS AN EXTENTION TO THE SEASON FOR PURPOSES OF THESE RULES)

ALL CLUB LEAGUE MATCHES

All club league are played to a maximum of eighteen ends.

Each match shall conclude at the playing of the eighteenth end or the sounding of the bell.At the sounding of the bell provided that the cot has been cast then that end may be completed and that will end the game.

If during a league match the cot should be knocked outside the confines of the rink the cot shall then be place on the allocated spot on the side of the rink from which the cot was displaced.

If during a match the cot should be miscast then the opposing skip shall set the mat and cot at his or her preferred length.

During a league match skips only will be permitted to visit the head and then only once during each end.

The names of all players shall be entered on the score card and at the end of each game signed by a member of each team.

CLUB COMPETITIONS

PLEASE NOTE THAT WHERE CLUB COMPETITION MATCHES THAT ARE USUALLY PLAYED ON A WEEKEND ARE ARRANGED OR REARRANGED TO BE PLAYED MIDWEEK ON AN AFTERNOON OR EVENING WILL BE SUBJECT TO THE RULES OF PLAY AS DESCRIBED ABOVE AND THAT THE MATCH WILL UNLESS THE REQUIRED NUMBER OF ENDS HAVE ALREADY BEEN PLAYED CEASE WITH THE SOUNDING OF THE BELL IRRESPECTIVE OF WETHER OR NOT A MATCH SHALL BE SCHEDULED TO FOLLOW THE CLUB COMPETITION MATCH.

  LEAGUE AND CUP GAMES 

PM Games

All games will start at PM (not 5.55 PM or sooner)

Each game will consist of 18 ens or played to the bell.

No team will be allowed to play after 6.20pm this game will be null and void and the opposing team will be given the points (as club rules)

If you arrange to play a game later than PM with the opposing team this must be done prior to the game commencing (providing there is no other game to follow on the appointed rink) That being the case the duration of that game will be 2 hours and 1o minutes, For that purpose there is an alarm clock which is kept in the wooden box by the rinks and this must be used and set to the correct time 2 hours and 10 minutes. NO GAME SHOULD GO OVER THIS TIME REGARDLESS WHETHER YOU HAVE PLAYED 18 ENDS OR NOT.

CUP GAMES

All cup games will be played to the bell . There is no exception to this rule. If you arrange to play a cup game during the daytime then the 2 hour 10 minute rule will apply/ Again, if you arrange to play a cup game later in the evening then the 2 hour 10 minute rule will apply.

CANCELLED MATCHES AND LATE ARRIVAL

Where a game is cancelled it is the responsibility f the person cancelling the game to notify the opposing captain and the fixture secretary a minimum of 24 Hrs notice is applicable.

Where a game is played Two players against three players the team of two players will be responsible for making up the deficit of the rink fees and they will also be deducted one fifth of their total shots scored in the game.

Should a team fail to turn up they will be responsible for the total rink fees of both teams they will also be deducted five shots and the opposing team will be awarded two points and five shots.

Where a team turns up late the match will be subject to the following penalties.

Up to ten minutes late the match will be reduced to a maximum of seventeen ends and the offending team will be penalised three shots.

Up to twenty minutes late the match will be reduced to a maximum of fifteen ends and offending team will be penalised five shots

NO MATCH SHALL COMMENCE AFTER TWENTY MINUTES WAITING TIME HAS ELAPSED.

After twenty minutes waiting time the offending team will be disqualified and penalised five shots.

Their opponents will be awarded two points and plus five shots.

The absentee team will be responsible for the full rink fees.

THE FIXTURE SECRETARY WILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO ALTER OR REARRANGE ANY MATCH

PLAYERS TRANSFER

A player may during the season transfer from one league team to another league team in the same league or a different league e.g. Morning league to morning league,evening triples to evening triples or evening pairs to evening pairs.

Notice requesting transfer must be given in writing on the appropriate transfer request form to the secretary and the application will be posted on the notice board at least two weeks prior to the committee meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday in each month.

When applying to transfer your reason for transfer must be clearly stated no player will be allowed to play for another team until such time as the application has been determined by the committee and the applicant notified by the secretary in writing of the decision of the committee.

All request for transfer should have a genuine reason for the move which should be to the benefit of all concerned.

The application must be signed by the applicant together with his team captain and the captain of the team looking to take in the transferred bowler.

THE DECISION OF THE COMMITTEE WILL BE FINAL WHEN DETERMINING AN APPLICATION TO TRANSFER.

ANYTHING ELSE

ALL VEHICLES ARE PARKED AT THE OWNERS RISK THE CLUB WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE TO PERSONAL PROPERTY INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE CLUB PREMISES

IT IS NOT PERMITTED TO EITHER RUN SMOKE or DRINK ON THE GREEN

Water based spray chalk along with ordinary chalk are both allowed to be used.
